A report has been issued by the independent financial firm See Change Strategy LLC and it shows that the potential market for medical marijuana has already grown up to $1.7 billion a year and it was something close to the sales figures for Viagra which is legally available in stores.

Legalizing medical marijuana has always been a hot topic in American politics and now it is calling for more attention after authorities have realized the potential of this industry.

Referring to the increased patient access, Ted Rose, editor of the report said that the current market of medical marijuana was likely to double up in next five years with an estimated market value of $8.7 billion.

In addition, he said, “Hundreds of businesses exist around the country that cultivate and sell marijuana to customers. Many of these businesses emerged in the wake of the Obama administration's decision to de-prioritize federal prosecutions of individuals and business complying with state medical marijuana laws”.

After being legal in seven states of U. S., it is slated to become legal in four more states later this year. Reports suggest that around 24.8 million people are currently eligible to purchase medical marijuana legally.
